One of Britain's leading youth symphony orchestras is visiting Skärholmen Church. The Suffolk Youth Orchestra (SYO) is a full-scale symphony orchestra with around 60 musicians aged 13–22. It is considered one of the leading youth orchestras of its kind in the UK.
In addition to performing on prestigious stages at home, including annual concerts at Aldeburgh Music's Snape Proms, the SYO has toured extensively and has received great acclaim from both audiences and critics across Europe.
On Tuesday 28 July at 6pm they will be visiting Skärholmen Church, where they will perform works from the following list, as well as additional repertoire to be announced later:
- MacCunn – The Land of the Mountain and the Flood
- Elgar – Cockaigne Overture
- Mendelssohn – Violin Concerto
- Rachmaninoff – Symphony No.2
