This week, let’s discuss Objective Reality vs Subjective Experiences
A few jump-off points:
1. How do we define Objective Reality vs Subjective Experience?
2. Is there a true reality that exists independently of human perception?
3. Have you ever had a story that when compared with someone else’s version is completely different?
4. Where do we want to measure reality as objectively as possible?
5. Where is subjective perception vastly better than objective reality?
6. How do we determine which to use in which reality?
7. Does being objective mean taking no side, or can someone be objective while still holding a clear position?
8. How do we deal with the fact that the human experience is both vastly beautiful and unimaginably horrible simultaneously?
9. Is there a way to shape our words and thought to not get caught in a negative subjective experience? For example, not saying you have anxiety, but just naming the feelings
10. Is looking at the bright side or silver lining just coping, or is it necessary?
11. Is it possible to be too in the middle of recognizing nuance or is nuance of holding two paradoxical ideas in mind always better?
12. How do you feel about the quote: "When the data and the anecdotes disagree, the anecdotes are usually right."
Warm welcome!

Practical Philosophy is a weekly meet-up that brings critical thinkers together for an opportunity to dive deep on a topic, practice communicating, and building a community. All with no ‘official’ philosophy knowledge required! 😎
Practical Philosophy is based on the idea that philosophy should be accessible to all, and not something reserved only for academics. Each week we choose a topic, and the goal is to use the conversation to develop our critical thinking and communication as we explore that topic.
The goal is to help develop our Critical Thinking, Communication, and Community 🙌
📓 HOW DOES IT WORK?
Each week, we pick one topic and discuss it. The topic for the week is shared, generally in the Whatsapp groups,
https://chat.whatsapp.com/GmIWvXtyJL4JmA1vEPlJJl?mode=ems_copy_c
along with jump-off points to get the conversation going.
When groups get bigger than 7-8 people, it’s important that we break into smaller groups. This way we are able to maintain a conversational flow as opposed to having our meetups feel like a discourse or lecture.
