Vad händer?

🚀 AI Coding Night

Claude vs Codex

Live Refactoring Kata

📅 Wednesday, August 5

🕘 21:00 CET

⏱ Duration: 2 Hours

Build. Refactor. Learn. Together.

Forget AI presentations.

Join The Copenhagen PHP Meetup Group for a hands-on coding workshop where developers collaborate in teams, tackle a real refactoring challenge, and learn from each other's ideas, code, and AI workflows.

Choose your side:

🤖 Team Claude

or

⚡ Team Codex

Both teams receive exactly the same legacy code and the same refactoring challenge.

The goal isn't to prove one AI is better.

The goal is to discover different approaches, improve your engineering skills, and learn from both your own team and the other team.

Workshop Format

👋 Introduction (15 Minutes)

Welcome & Team Selection

Introduction to the Refactoring Kata

Understand the Legacy Code

Workshop Rules

🔄 Coding Iterations

Each iteration follows the same format:

💻 20 Minutes

Work together in breakout rooms.

Refactor the code in small, safe iterations using your AI coding assistant as your pair programmer.

Collaborate with your teammates, discuss ideas, and continuously improve your solution.

💬 5 Minutes

Everyone comes back together.

Each team presents their progress.

We'll compare different approaches, prompts, refactoring strategies, and engineering decisions.

This is where everyone learns from each other.

We'll complete three iterations during the evening.

If everyone is having fun and wants to continue, we'll simply keep going with Iteration 4 and 5.

This Is a Collaborative Workshop

This is not a competition.

It's a collaborative engineering exercise where every participant contributes ideas and learns from others.

You'll learn:

Different refactoring techniques

AI Pair Programming

Better prompting for software development

Clean Code practices

Different engineering approaches

How other developers solve the same challenge

Through discussion, feedback, and collaboration

The comparison after every iteration is just as valuable as the coding itself.

Meet Your Host

John Behrens

Agile & QA Coach · AI Enablement

I've spent more than 25 years building software and helping teams improve the way they develop it—as a developer, QA engineer, Scrum Master, Agile Coach, and trainer. Today my focus is on AI Enablement, bringing practical AI into everyday software engineering.

Why I'm Hosting This

I'm running this workshop for free because I genuinely love these kinds of coding exercises.

It reminds me of the old Software Craftsmanship meetups: developers coding together, exchanging ideas, and learning from each other. This isn't another AI presentation—it's a real community workshop, just the AI way.

If you'd like to work with me professionally, I'm currently open to technical roles in Agile, QA, and AI Enablement.
